Linda Edna Cardellini (n e Lorraine (Hernan) was the daughter of Wayne David Cardellini (a businessman) in Redwood City. She is Italian through her father's grandfather. In the following years, she starred as Lady Rose MacClare in the period drama series Downton Abbey (2012-2015), her first big break came in her role as the lead in the film of fantasy Cinderella (2015). James went onto portray the Countess Natasha Rostova, in the television version of War & Peace, in 2016. She also appeared in a number of films. They include the action-packed film Baby Driver (2017) and the period dramas Darkest Hour (2017) and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (2018 and 2021) and musicals Mamma Mia! We Go Again 2018 and Yesterday (2019). The portrayal she gave of Pamela Anderson for the biographical show Pam & Tommy in 2022 won her the Golden Globes and Primetime Emmy Awards.
