Catherine Ford is a British actress who was born in Bloomsbury. Following the time her father's departure from the household, the actress was grew to maturity by her mother, godparents, and grandmother. As a young girl, she struggled with obsessive-compulsive disorder. She also experienced anxiety due to the word"association. Ford became interested in acting during her teenage years she joined the National Youth Theatre. Ford was accepted to Sylvia Young Theatre School but after one week decided she wasn't a good fit. Ford made an application for admission to the Central School of Speech and Drama and finally won the position she wanted on her third try. Shaun Dingwall - who later appeared as Pete Tyler in Doctor Who - was one of Ford's classmates. Ford earned her bachelor's degree in 1993. But, before then, Ford made a television debut in Surgical Spirit in an episode in 1990. Ford took the professional name of Catherine Tate. Through the Nineties, Tate could be watched on television in programs like The Bill, Men Behaving Badly and London's Burning. She worked on stage regularly, and joined The Royal Shakespeare Company's 2000-2001 season. Tate gained not long after her recognition for her stand-up comedies, that were added to Tate's selection in the year 1996.
